Bamboo, Feathers, Cotton,
Commissioned by Ivan C Design Shanghai.
The installation is part of the agitators series of works inspired by muscle restraints. The series investigates the idea of autonomous muscular movement within architectural space. In this case, feathers are used as a way of translating air movement into structural distortion. By utilising the flexibility of bamboo, structural elements deform autonomously. The piece responds as if momentarily animated, when subjected to very slight wind movements such as a passer by or a gentle draft.
